1. Try To Do Too Much
In our opinion, the ideal morning routine doesn’t involve a crazy long to-do list.
You don’t have endless amounts of time (in general, but especially when you’re trying to get ready for work!), so try and be realistic about what you need to get done during the first one to two hours of the day.
2. Wake Up Too Early
If you Google the 10 morning habits of highly successful people, you’re probably going to find advice like “embrace the 5:00am morning routine.”
There is nothing wrong with getting up at 5:00am. But it’s not for everyone.
We recommend getting up 10-15 minutes earlier than you ideally like and seeing how that works for you for a week.
3. Immediately Check Your Work Email
Nothing kills a morning routine aesthetic like checking your work email five minutes after you wake up!
You are allowed to eat breakfast, have some coffee and get dressed before checking your work email… It’s awesome being a communicative employee, but you don’t need to be working the moment your eyes open.
4. Scroll On Your Phone
We’re pretty sure that the daily routine of a successful person – successful meaning someone who is mentally healthy! – does not include scrolling endlessly in bed.
Don’t get us wrong: we LOVE checking Instagram.
But letting yourself wake up slowly and not overstimulating your brain on social media is a good way to establish some morning routine success.
5. Do A Long Workout
You don’t have to run 5 miles every morning to be a good person.
If you fit in a 15 minute workout before starting work, that’s amazing. Good for you!
6. Give In To Perfectionism
There’s no such thing as a perfect morning routine. So let’s throw that idea right out the window.
A daily routine for success and happiness is personal to you.
