This post is all about perfectly gooey chocolate chip cookies.
Chocolate Chip Cookie Ingredients
- 3/4 cup (168g) unsalted butter
- 1 egg plus 1 egg yolk
- 1 tablespoon (ish!) pure vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup Philadelphia cream cheese
- 1 cup (200g) brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 (50g) cup granulated sugar
- 1 3/4 cup (210g) all-purpose flour
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips (try
- OPTIONAL: chunky sea salt for sprinkling on baked cookies
Beginner Tips
- Chill your dough for 30 minutes in the fridge before baking (two hours if you can!). Chilling the dough makes the flavor set in and the center extra gooey.
- Don’t over mix (see step 3 under DIRECTIONS) or over bake (see step 5)!
- Definitely freeze any cookies that you don’t eat! You can freeze them up to three months.
Directions
- Separate your wet and dry ingredients into two separate piles.
- Get your butter. Make sure it’s at room temperature/soft. If it’s not soft, zap it in the microwave for around 10-15 seconds.
- Combine your butter with the rest of your wet ingredients. Use an electric hand mixer to save time. Your cookie dough is ready when there’s an even color throughout the dough.
- If you don’t have a cookie dough scoop, use a tablespoon or a 1/4 measuring cup. Make sure you line the utensil with butter first.
- Bake your cookies for roughly 11 minutes. You’ll know they’re done when the edges are brown and the center is nice and soft!
- Once they’re out the oven sprinkle with salt, cool for 30 minutes, and then ENJOY!
